Pompeii & Sorrento and Fiorentina Game

So last last weekend i went on an overnight trip with my school to Pompeii and Sorrento. 2 east coast cities. Pompeii is actually the name for just the ruins, but the town it resides in is actually Napoli. I loved going to Pompeii. 2000 years ago Vesuvius erupted and covered the city in initially 20 feet of volcanic dust. It completely preserved the town until it was discovered this century. You can go throughout the entire town. Despite most of the buildings not having roofs it was like running around an entire ancient stone ghost-town. You could go through the bakeries and brothel which are all left in very decent shape. They even had the frescoes on the walls of the brothels intact to show "the menu". The tombs were pretty amazing as well. Wish i could have gotten around to the amphitheater which i heard was amazing. A few people and I kept getting seperated from our tour group because we'd run off exploring through houses and courtyard and temples.

We also went to Sorrento which was another coast town about 30 minutes away. Our hotel patio had an amazing view of the ocean and mountains and even Vesuvius. Sorrento was a beautiful hilly town. The markets and stores were a lot of fun to look around and the piers out into the ocean were fun to look around despite the little drizzle that persisted through out the day.

And then this past weekend we stayed here in florence to prepare for midterms which are going on this week. And we also went to a soccer game yesterday. Florence's team is called Fiorentina. Which means basically Florentine. It was a great game to watch despite losing 0-2 to Palermo. I got a jersey of Fiorentina's goalie Frey.

And next week ill be gone for Spring Break! And I'm going to the Canary Islands for 9 days! Theyre owned by Spain so ill be able to finally speak another language I know, Spanish. It is located south of spain though. They are actually off the coast of Africa, by Morocco and the Sahara. I am so excited to lay in a tropical paradise for a week. I'll be most likely surfing and snorkeling all week. I can't wait. And the best part is that its decently cheap there and hotels are sooo cheap because very few people are traveling right now. So anyone's free to join up with me while I'm there.

And now i have to get back to studying for my Renaissance Art History midterm thats tomorrow at 9 am. I got a lot more studyin to do. So I'll write again soon. Enjoy the pics.
